Gordonstoun School: Rockin’ with the Red Cross 2011

GS: Rockin’ with the Red Cross 2011

Last weekend, four senior members of the First Aid Service (and Miss Brown) travelled to the sleepy village of Dores near Inverness which comes alive once a year to the sounds of the Rock Ness festival. We were working alongside members of the British Red Cross to provide first aid cover for the 35,000 revellers who were there to see performers such as Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers and Paulo Nutini. Based in both the campsite and the main arena area, we helped to man the first aid tent and undertook patrols, dealing with everything from blisters to examples of excessive drug and alcohol consumption. In dealing with members of the public, we had to use all of our training and remain calm and professional in the face of some really challenging situations. It was a massively rewarding experience for us and we are grateful to the Red Cross for giving us this opportunity.
