In July 2010, a party consisting of pupils from Canford School, Dorset and City Reach Youth Project in Southampton travelled to East Africa to spend two weeks working with the children’s charity ‘Light in Africa’, a Tanzanian organization caring for sick, abandoned and handicapped children. The participants raised funds to support a new building project and were able to help prepare the foundation work and learn about brick building. Other activities involved organised sporting and musical events, helping deliver an IT initiative sponsored by the British company Blue Chip and spending time with the children themselves.
